Out of School Time

Out of School Time

During these challenging times when your regular routine seems to change daily, one thing remains the same: your child needs a safe, enriching place to go when school is not in session.

After School Program

When the school day is over, the YMCA fun begins! Students will be transported to the Charleston Family YMCA either by Kanawha County School buses or by our YMCA shuttle when school lets out. Once they arrive, their group counselor will perform health and safety screenings and lead the students to their designated area where they will wash their hands and have snack. After snack, students will have 30 minutes of homework assistance and then rotate to enrichment activities including group games, experiments, arts, crafts, and more! Through these activities, the YMCA focuses on the social-emotional growth of your child. Friendships are made, and children are stronger communicators and critical thinkers.

Tuition: $80/week

Full Day Out Program

Our Full Day Out Program is available when school is not is session! Should school be closed due to state or county closures, school holidays, or weather emergencies, we will provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for your child.

Our staff will perform daily health and safety screenings for each student upon arrival. During the day, students will follow a structured schedule of learning and enrichment activities including group games, arts and crafts, STEM activities, independent reading time, and study time to work on virtual assignments. *Please note that the YMCA will not be able to accommodate Kanawha County Schools eLearning schedules. Our staff will provide homework/assignment assistance to our best ability but cannot guarantee the completion or accuracy of each student’s daily assignments.

Students will be provided with a healthy breakfast, lunch, and snack in accordance with CACFP (The Child and Adult Care Food Program). Per CACFP guidelines, outside food and drink will not be permitted. Please see the Director if your child has a special dietary need.

Tuition: $155/week

The YMCA accepts subsidy services through Connect Child Care Resource and Referral. We also offer a YMCA Scholarship Program for families that do not qualify for these services but may still need assistance. Please see Director for additional information.
