Friends and families of the YMCA of Kanawha Valley we are happy to announce the reopening of the pool. On July 6, 2020 we will be adding additional hours, family swims, locker rooms and the whirlpool. Entrance and exit of the pool will remain at the side of the building with direct entrance to the pool. We will have a staff member on deck that will check you in, record your temperature and ask you a series of five questions regarding COVID-19. During this time, we are reopening whirlpool and family lap lane swimming by reservation only. Please note that there will be no drop-in swimming or whirlpool accessibility. All swimmers/members must schedule their lane/time the day before. Each lane will remain at for a max of one-hour usage during this time. However, due to protocol we are unable to supply members with exercise equipment such as: belts, water weights, kick boards, pull buoy, swim paddles/fins, life jackets, noodles and/or towels. At this time we will reopen the locker rooms and whirlpool. We ask that all members come “ready to swim” to maintain the cleanliness of the locker rooms. Rinsing off before entering the pool is required, we have installed a rinse-off shower on deck for members to take a quick 20-30 second rinse off prior to entering the pool. However, locker rooms will be avaible for rinsing off as well.
To ensure we are doing our best to maintain social distancing, we have placed benches at both ends of the pool for members to place their small bag and towel. The benches are being alternated each end of the pool. Upon entry our staff will direct you in the direction that is safe for you to enter your lane.
